THERE'S PLENTY OF HARD WORK AHEAD'

AT THE CLOSE of the Society's recent convention, the following letter was sent to the 80-plus members of the organization. It expresses the serious purpose of the Mattachine Society.

The convention gave us all an opportunity to reflect on past activities, take inventory of our present position and plan for the future. No one could have come from the meeting uninspired because the destiny and great responsibility of Mattachine was clearly indicated.

The sure foundation which the Society has laid in its unspectacular way during the past two years has proved to be sound. As an organization we have achieved the respect of persons in the fields of religion, law, medicine, education, law enforcement and social welfare. They have recognized · the Mattachine Society as an organization dedicated to act in the public interest, with a keen desire toaid anindividual and his community in solving social problems. All whọ have had a part in this effort can take pride in this significant accomplishment on behalf of the homophile.

During the coming year; it shall be our purpose to expand our educational efforts through public discussion groups and forums and provide an available source of responsible counsel in our field. Group therapy will be accelerated for those who may desire to participate in such a program. More educational material will be distributed to those who have an active interest in our aims to intelligently exchange opinions and arrive at decisions which will be beneficial to all.
